The Texas Chain Saw Massacre release date has been revealed alongside the news of an upcoming tech test. The asymmetrical-horror game is all set to terrorize fans of Tobe Hooper’s classic, as well as those of games like Dead by Daylight, on August 18, 2023.
Gun Interactive also announced it will be holding a Texas Chainsaw Massacre tech test on May 25, 2023. No platforms have been announced for this technical test, but it will be the first time that fans have a chance to wield the chainsaw.
Planned for release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S (with a day-one launch on Xbox Game Pass), developer Gun Interactive has provided a new Texas Chain Saw Massacre trailer that showcases some of the brutality that the hotly-anticipated game adaptation will bring.
If you were unaware of what The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is, this brief trailer should clue you in. People die in horrible fashion thanks in part to the titular chainsaw and its iconic wielder, Leatherface. This latest game takes place a few months prior to the original 1974 film’s events and features detailed recreations of the locations and characters from that film.
Being an asymmetrical-horror game, you’ll have control of either the Slaughter Family — which includes Leatherface — or one of the many would-be victims that the family hunts to kill. Matches play out in a 3v4 cat-and-mouse style where those not filled with an insatiable bloodlust will need to use stealth and smarts to outplay their predators.
