Hollow Knight enamored many when it was released six years ago and that has transferred into long-awaited anticipation for its sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong. Unfortunately, we’ll all have to wait just a little longer to play the next game from developer Team Cherry. Hollow Knight: Silksong has been delayed.
The latest comes from Matthew Griffin, who handles the PR and Marketing for Team Cherry. He reveals that the title is still being developed and won’t be able to make its planned release within the first half of the year.
Hollow Knight: Silksong has been a game with very few updates. It was first announced in 2019 and would be sparse with details until a gameplay trailer debuted at last year’s Xbox and Bethesda Showcase. Although it wasn’t given a concrete release date, it was included among the titles that Microsoft marketed as being playable within 12 months.
This news comes just before the end of those 12 months, putting down any hopes that the game might sneakily launch. The length of the delay wasn’t specified, so there’s no telling if it will release later this year or sometime after.
Silksong began as a DLC to the original Hollow Knight, but the project grew too big, and the team decided to turn it into a full-fledged sequel. The game follows Hornet as she fights her way through a new land filled with treacherous enemies and unfamiliar bugs. It’s expected to launch on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Additionally, it will also be available as a day-one release for Xbox Game Pass.
