The full Unholy Magic build is highly entertaining as you summon hordes of undead minions to fight for you. This build aims to maximize the number of skeletal warriors, mages, and death knights you can summon while outputting great DPS yourself. Here’s my best necromancer build in V Rising.
Best Unholy Magic Build in V Rising
The core of this build is taking specific Unholy Magic spells for summoning minions while focusing on ranged weapons. Let’s take a look at the full setup and then discuss strategy:
- Veil: Veil of Bones.
- Counter: Ward of the Damned.
- Spell: Death Knight.
- Ultimate: Army of the Dead.
- Weapon: Condemn-focused Ancestral/Stygian Longbow.
- Trinket: Condemn-focused trinkets.
- Passives: Arcane Animator (Tier I), Soul Drinker and Hunger for Blood (Tier II), and Embrace Mayhem and Sanguine Master (Tier III).
- Blood Type: Rogue.
- Important Stats on Armor, Weapons, and Trinkets: Physical Damage and Critical Strike Chance.
- Consumables: Brew of Ferocity and Any Healing Brews.
With the basic choices outline, let’s discuss how to actually play a necromancer in V Rising. Just a heads up that this build is incredibly powerful in PVE due to summoned minion aggro but isn’t the best for PVP.
Unholy Magic Build Guide in V Rising
The bread and butter of this necromancer build is summoning minions to tank for you in melee while you stand in the back with Veils fully charging Longbow shots. The reason this is so powerful is that fully-charged Longbow shots pierce enemies, allowing for excellent AOE damage. Undead minions will allow you to safely and regularly do this for incredible damage. Once you stack up 2 to 3 focus, you can then fire off a powerful Multishot on a group or the bouncing arrow (E) on a boss to quickly take down V Bloods and Rift Incursion bosses.
The Condemn condition applied by Unholy Magic abilities and the Multishot from your Condemn-focused Ancestral/Stygian weapon will allow you to both deal more damage to enemies and spawn an undead once you kill them. You should also be on the lookout for stray projectiles and attacks to absorb with your Ward of the Damned to spawn more skeletons. That said, against harder bosses, be sure to save your Veil and Ward for powerful attacks so that you can avoid or block them.
Of course, your main source of minions is the Army of the Dead ultimate. I recommend you save it for large crowds or boss fights. As for jewels, look for those that modify your abilities to either spawn more minions or turn regular skeletons into skeletal mages. These mages can deal a lot of burst damage so they’re a great secondary DPS source.
Lastly, the Longbow will deal incredible critical hit damage due to your Rogue blood type and crit-boosting armor or trinkets. Be on the lookout for high-quality Rogue blood enemies to trap in prisons for a steady supply of blood. Feel free to use other weapons, but the Longbow fully charged pierce shots go so well with undead minions tanking for you. That’s it for my best necromancer build in V Rising.
